Greece is bracing for a major weather event this week, as heavy rain, thunderstorms, and snow in mountainous areas are expected to impact much of the country starting Wednesday.

Meteorologist Theodoros Kolydas reported that rainfall will first appear in western Greece on Tuesday afternoon, intensifying on Wednesday and gradually spreading nationwide. Snowfall is expected in the mountainous regions of central and northern Greece.

African Storm Brings Strong Winds

According to meteorologist Georgios Tsatrafyllias, a low-pressure system will form off the northern coast of Africa, near Libya’s Gulf of Sirte, on Wednesday. This system is expected to bring severe thunderstorms and strong southerly winds to Greece through the end of the week.
