1. Honestly, the juries’ out on this one for me.

   Trump isn’t a details guy, this is pretty well known, and Hegseth is also pretty well known for being a Giant Douche who likes to act real tough whenever he can to prove a point. I could see him giving a “kill everyone” order all on his own. He’s also dumb enough to panic when noticing there were survivors on that fishing boat and thought just double tapping them would make the situation go away.

   Side tangent: funny how that “you have a responsibility to NOT follow *illegal* orders” video from democrats came out less than week before we got reports of a pretty cut and dry illegal order allegedly coming from the Trump administration, yeah? It’s almost like people know exactly what’s going on and are trying to fight back from the inside.

   Edit: not that I’m trying to exonerate Trump: the buck still stops with him, whether he likes it or not. That’s the downside to being an authoritarian. He’s still implicitly responsible for everything his idiot minions do.

    I can see a 19 year old just out of training not being able to understand what is happening. I think the reason they are using drones instead of helicopters or planes is because it’s an actual enlisted person at the trigger. A pilot could have pushed back and said hell no. A young sailor in a dark room a thousand miles away getting yelled at by an officer is just going to do what they are told.
