I’ve said it before, Poland has some oddly wholesome yet neutral relations with NK and it’s fascinating lol
Somewhere around 2005, as a student intern at our U.S. Embassy in Warsaw, I was at the July 4 party helping out the embassy staff at the Ambassador’s residence and found myself standing face to face with Jaruzelski who was waiting for his car to be brought around.
Shocked, I made small talk and we ended up chatting about my Polish parents, how it was to grow up in the Chicago area, and whether we spoke Polish at home.
His driver came around and off he went. My parents didn’t believe me at first but someone took a pic and I still have the print.
