Residents of the Zadar archipelago will soon have easier access to essential healthcare services as mobile boat pharmacies begin operating from Thursday, 4 December 2025.
The initiative, introduced by Zadar County and Ljekarna Zadar, marks the first service of its kind in Croatia.
Designed to improve healthcare availability on the islands, the mobile pharmacies will operate on a weekly schedule, stopping at each island according to a predefined route.
All services will follow the required health and safety standards, ensuring residents can rely on the same level of care provided by traditional mainland pharmacies.
Islanders will be able to collect prescribed medicines, consult pharmacists, and purchase essential medical supplies, both prescription and over-the-counter.
The boat pharmacies will carry a full range of medicines typically found in standard pharmacies. Residents can also reserve or order medicines in advance, no later than 12:00 the day before the mobile pharmacy arrives at their island.

The timetable and sailing routes may be adjusted over time to reflect the needs of island communities and weather conditions. Service users are encouraged to follow updates on the official Ljekarna Zadar website and Instagram page, as well as the official webpages and social media channels of Zadar County.
