How does a bee dance look, what is swarming, how do bees develop, and how do honey production and pollen collection work?
Answers to these questions are now available on a new interactive panel about pollinators, installed at the educational and environmental centre Včelí kRaj in the village of Liešnica near Kokava nad Rimavicou in south-central Slovakia. Visitors can explore a range of facts about bees across five themed sections, the TASR newswire reported.
“The panel will help explain the links within the world of pollinators to both children and adults,” said David Turčáni of the environmental centre.
Visitors can use a tablet that provides additional information, or download the app directly to their own device.
After entering the centre, visitors will see a wall-sized illustration depicting rural countryside. With the help of the app, the images come to life and, similar to virtual reality, present information related to selected topics.
The Včelí kRaj centre opened in 2013. It also includes an apiary and a butterfly house. During the main season, it is frequently visited by school groups, families with children, beginner beekeepers and foreign visitors.
The new information panel was supported by the Banská Bystrica Region with €5,500.
