United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday (4 December) that radical Islamic movements threaten not just America but the entire world, warning that their objective is expansion and “not merely to occupy one part of the world.”

During an interview with Fox News, Rubio stated that radical Islam aims for expansion rather than isolation.

He said, “Radical Islam has shown that their desire is not simply to occupy one part of the world and be happy with their own little caliphate, they want to expand. It’s revolutionary in its nature. It seeks to expand and control more territories and more people…That’s a clear and imminent threat to the world and to the broader West, but especially the United States who they identify as the chief source of evil on the planet.”

Rubio added that Islamic movements worldwide ultimately view the West—and particularly the United States—as “the greatest evil on earth.”

He said radical Islamic groups are prepared to use any tactic, including killings and assassinations, to widen their influence.

Rubio also said that most terror attacks within the United States have been motivated by radical Islamic ideology.

During a Cabinet meeting at the White House on Tuesday, Rubio said that American foreign policy was, for the first time in decades, based entirely on whether it made the country “safer, stronger and more prosperous.”

He added, “If it is, he’s (Trump) for it. If it doesn’t, he’s against it. And that sort of clarity is transformational.”
