LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – One person was taken to the hospital after a carbon monoxide leak in a Lexington home.
Fire crews were called to a home on Kilpatrick Court off Russell Cave Road Wednesday, Dec. 4, where first responders detected high levels of carbon monoxide.
Everyone was evacuated from the home. Columbia Gas of Kentucky was called to the scene to determine where the leak was coming from.
Lexington District Fire Chief Seth Lockard warned people about the safety of using your heater during the winter, especially if it uses natural gas.
Lockard said people with natural gas appliances should have a carbon monoxide detector and make sure their furnaces are serviced on a regular basis.
Lockard also said people using natural gas should call 911 if anyone feels sick or out of the ordinary.
