The food industry: between economic competitiveness and national security
According to the United Nations, the global population is projected to exceed 9.7 billion people by 2050, putting enormous pressure on global food systems. Meanwhile, climate change, resource scarcity, and supply chain fragmentation are accelerating the need for innovation in food production, processing, logistics, and technology.
As a result, the food industry is poised to become one of the most strategic sectors of the future — not only from an economic perspective but also in terms of national security and geopolitical stability.
“In this context, Food Angels Hub aims to support companies that have already proven a functional, profitable, and scalable business model. We strive to become their growth partner, offering investment, now-how, and access to a strong regional network of experts and investors,” added Florin Maxim.
Mission: Transforming Romania into a regional hub for food innovation
Food Angels Hub’s founding members believe that regional scaling is the next critical step for Romania’s food ecosystem.
“There is tremendous potential in Central and Eastern Europe — local companies that can become regional brands, technological innovations applicable across the entire food value chain, and business models capable of redefining how food is produced, distributed, and consumed. Food Angels Hub is committed to accelerating this transformation through smart investments and strategic collaborations,” said Florin Maxim.
Call for entrepreneurs and investors
Food Angels Hub is also launching an open call to founders of food-related businesses who are ready to take the next step toward scaling, as well as to investors interested in joining the community.
