Nice! First time in decades our country has shown a hint of spine
I love the Eurovision but this is the right call! I never thought I’d say it, but fair play to RTÉ!
Bit of bloody backbone lads, love to see it.
Rightly so. And for any other years after. Hope more countries follow suit. The eurovision has become a corrupt propaganda machine ever since this war.
Spain and the Netherlands have announced the same, and it’s expected Slovenia and probably Iceland will join us shortly.
Edit: Slovenia official now. Rumours of Belgium too.
Awesome, I had seen Spain and Netherlands saying they would and was hoping Ireland weren’t going to back down.
Ireland, Spain and the Neatherlands gone from the “not so Eurovison Song Contest”
Such a disgrace but it had to happen, love eurovision to death but hopefully with us, Spain, Netherlands pulling out there are more to follow
Good. It was a clown show last year with Israel interfering with votes and plaguing other acts backstage.
Amazing news. Was hoping they’d stick to their guns. Hopefully more countries follow.
This is massive from rte.
Nobody should underestimate how big of a move this is for them to make.
Good
Good stuff
Excellent
Based
Hopefully others follow suit.
Edit: seen Spain and Netherlands have followed suit 😀
Fair play, RTÉ didn’t make a song and dance about it either..

Hopefully the boycotting broadcasters will put on a massive fundraiser for Gazan aid on the same night.
Good call and no messing around.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Israel has made a very powerful enemy. Marty Whelan depends on that work over the summer.
It would be good if Ireland, Spain, and the Netherlands could form their own Eurovision (along with any other countries that may show some backbone) to air at exactly the same time as the existing one. Not only would it underline how pathetic the existing Eurovision is, we’d actually be in with a shot of winning with only 3-6 countries participating.
RTE did something right?
First time for everything I suppose!
I can’t fault the move, but I’m very sad it has come to this. Eurovision was the first annual cultural event that my son was ever interested in, and our annual debates over the relative merits of the various entries was something I took far more meaning from than the literal content.
That said – I already felt dirty last year for following it and for hosting the watch party. They’re not the only ethnic cleansers in the competition, but Azerbaijan hasn’t hijacked the whole show in the same way that Israel has. Also, I quite like that Azerbaijan and Armenia are in it together – if Palestine had an entry, I wouldn’t mind Israel’s participation nearly as much.
Anyway, I’m sad that this is necessary.
A European institution with decades of proud history ruined because they refuse to kick a country actively committing genocide out. Disgraceful.
Wow good on them. Didn’t think they had the balls to boycott.
Wait for the barrage of Antisemitism comments and some corrupted, loudmouth yank politician / commentator to wade in with their 2 cents.
“RTÉ feels that Ireland’s participation remains unconscionable given the appalling loss of lives in Gaza and the humanitarian crisis there, which continues to put the lives of so many civilians at risk. RTÉ remains deeply concerned by the targeted killing of journalists in Gaza during the conflict and the continued denial of access to international journalists to the territory.”
