Nigel Farage’s party accepted cash gifts of £10.3 million between July and September this year, according to the Electoral Commission. The SNP reported no donations and Labour got £2.2m.

Reform’s total was mostly from Thailand-based businessman Christopher Harborne, a former Tory donor, who gifted £9m to the party.

That is believed to be one of the largest single sums in British political history, after Lord Sainsbury left £10m to the Tories in his will two years ago.

The Tories reported donations worth £4.7m and the LibDems received £1m.

Meanwhile the Scottish Greens reported no donations in the third quarter of the year, while the Green Party of England and Wales, which has grown in popularity since the election of its new leader Zack Polanski, accepted £30,439 of cash gifts.

  6. How on earth is it legal for foreign nationals to donate such vast sums to our political parties? 
    I thought there was some kind of campaign finance legislation to prevent things like this?

    Oh and a tidy £80m MOD contract during the last Tory government.

    All dodgy donations will now be broken down into £11,175 chunks and routed through shell companies based in the Scilly isles, Isle of Man, or the Channel islands.
