  4. This timeline is so strange! We’re burning unnecessary amounts of fossil fuels to power technology that might render everyone jobless or even kill us all. And even if that doesn’t happen we’ll die in the climate apocalypse. Just so a few ultra-rich can get a little richer.

  9. Retail power bills will go parabolic if we try and supply new large load with only fossil fuels. Even ignoring the GHG impact, if the bubble never bursts, we are speeding towards an electric energy affordability crisis.

  12. Take a look at Google Earth in Northeast Oregon. All those data center sites (4 buildings each) have nearly a hundred Cat diesel gen-sets next to the building, plus some Bloom Energy fuel cell – all for auxiliary generation. If the data center can get natural gas, they will use that, but if not, diesel works fine.
