Everything is in place for this year’s edition of Premju Għall-Arti, organised by Arts Council Malta, as Malta’s cultural and creative sectors get ready to celebrate standout artists, practitioners, and projects that have elevated Malta’s artistic eco-system throughout the past two years.
The event is set to take place this Friday at Teatru Manoel, honouring excellence across 14 competitive categories and seven honorary titles, recognising the breadth of artistic work that has shaped Malta’s cultural landscape over the past two years.
Dr Luke Dalli, Arts Council Malta Executive Chair, stated: “Our strategy sees a continuous journey towards excellence, as befits our country’s cultural and creative industries. Premju għall-Arti is yet another step that helps bring us closer to this end goal, shining a spotlight on every single artist and practitioner who is part of this journey. This year, we were pleased to see a record number of nominees that reflected the high artistic standards of the sector. I congratulate all finalists; they are worthy ambassadors to the sector, and they will undoubtedly be of inspiration to others, their achievements serving to encourage and inspire higher ambitions.”
From stage production to technical rehearsals, the current preparations reflect the significance of an event that has become a key marker for the sector. Friday’s event will also highlight key priorities that sit at the heart of Arts Council Malta’s long-term strategy, including professionalism, inclusion, and sustained artistic growth, aligning closely with Envision 2050, the national framework. It is also a culmination of the Council’s 10th anniversary.
All nominations have undergone a rigorous evaluation process by a jury of external experts and representatives from Arts Council Malta. Shortlisted entries reflect high artistic standards, with only the final 5 entries progressing toward the finals.
Premju għall-Arti will be livestreamed on Arts Council Malta’s Facebook page, on 5 of December at 6.15pm.
