Leonardo DiCaprio says he has “no regrets” about choosing to star in Titanic instead of Boogie Nights: “I look back at that film and not only to have been a part of that movie, but to be able to be the conductor of my own choices since. That has been just the greatest gift. So, I’m very thankful.”

A few months ago he said, that not doing Boogie Nights is one of his biggest regrets.
He made a ridiculous amount of money doing titanic
I prefer the actual quote.
When asked if he regretted choosing to star in Titanic instead of Boogie Nights DiCaprio replied, “I don’t think of either of them.”
When asked “why,” he responded, “Because they’re both over 25 years old.”
He’s definitely responsible, then, for the rise of Mark Wahlberg’s career, which we all still have to live with.
He would have looked too young for Boogie Nights Wahlberg is 3 years older and he was probably the better fit
If he does Boogie Nights instead, his life as he’s lived it would turn out significantly different. Sure, he could’ve still been a big star, but you can’t imagine how everything can change if even one thing is different. If he appreciates how his life has been, it doesn’t make sense to think about BN. In a hypothetical scenario where it could be possible to re-do things, of course. And this goes for anyone reading this who struggles with regrets.
Both paths would have lead him to Martin Scorsese so who cares.
I think we can all admit early DiCaprio was just filling the tremendous vacuum that’s was created when River Phoenix died.
Honestly I think Boogie Nights is a better film but Titanic was a colossal cultural phenomenon. I think he made the right decision.
I like Leo, but he did not have an edge until blood diamond. Mark was perfect for that role. Leo would’ve done fine, but I never think what if Leo was dirk diggler.
He would’ve eventually became successful regardless but titanic is what catapulted him to mainstream stardom. He made the right choice.
He was so good in Titanic, you couldn’t imagine anyone else.
I don’t think it’s all that honestly. Boogie nights. Titanic is clearly better imo. Jack sinking into the ocean is iconic. I think the Master is better than boogie nights
Really glad to hear that one of the most famous actors in the world doesn’t regret starring in one of the most famous movies in the world.
Forget Boogie Nights. Let’s recast Leo hitting his own chest in Fear.
I’d feel like an asshole asking such a dumb question
Both are amazing in two different ways.
Plus boogie nights was so bad
“Man who bought winning lotto ticket has no regrets”
Titanic was the best selling movie of all time at the time right? It probably made him the most attractive man on the planet to more than 50% of women for the next 30 years
I unironically think walberg pulled off boogie nights better than a lot of other people would.

Back to you Paul
You made the right choice! That movie is timeless. At a time in your life when you were the perfect age as if you honestly were truly on a voyage across the ocean to start a whole new life.
gee would i rather be in Titanic a worldwide success or Boogie Nights another movie that happened somewhere in America that has marginal cultural significance HMMM.
Leo walked (and swam, and drowned) so Mark could do Ted. Twice.
leo doesnt regret starring in a film that is iconic, loved by millions, made him incredibly famous and rich and is still watched constantly today 30 years later, ingrained in pop culture AND was critically acclaimed?? woww im shocked
