JD Vance breaks silence on Usha’s missing wedding ring: ‘It’s not even worth it’

Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance have opened up about viral speculation over their marriage after she was spotted without her wedding ring at multiple events

Vice President JD Vance has finally addressed the swirling rumors about his marriage to Second Lady Usha Vance after she was spotted at multiple public appearances without her wedding ring.

In a candid chat with NBC News, the vice president and second lady revealed they actually found the whole viral saga pretty amusing. “I think that we kind of get a kick out of it,” Vance, 41, revealed.

When NBC pressed him about whether the couple felt annoyed by all the marriage speculation headlines, Vance offered a measured response. “With anything in life, you take the good with the bad,” he explained.

“You accept that there are some sacrifices and there are some very good things that come along with it, too,” he continued. “but our marriage is as strong as it’s ever been, and I think Usha’s really taken to it, and it’s been kind of cool to see how she’s developed and evolved in this new role.”

The marriage drama began when Usha was spotted last month without her wedding band during a visit to a military base alongside First Lady Melania Trump. A rep for the second lady clarified that she is “a mother of three young children, who does a lot of dishes, gives lots of baths, and forgets her ring sometimes.”, reports the Irish Star.

According to the vice president, all the chatter that erupted after that photo hasn’t fazed them or shaken their relationship in the slightest. “It’s funny,” Vance remarked. “I actually don’t think that it’s tough,” he continued.

Vance shared with NBC a recent incident when he and the second lady were hurrying to the White House from their home for another outing with the first lady. Vance explained that Usha discovered she had left the ring behind just as she had entered the car.

“She was like, ‘Oh, if I don’t go back and get them, there’s going to be some ridiculous psycho who talks about it on social media,” Vance remembered. “And I was like, let them. It’s not even worth the trip to run back upstairs. So we actually have a little bit of fun with it. And we thought that whole viral social media cycle was kind of funny,” he continued.

Just as Usha anticipated, the missing ring was covered by outlets including People, The Daily Mail, and The Daily Beast. “There are certainly ways in which it’s difficult on the family,” noted Vance.

“I’m not going to pretend that it isn’t. But it’s the sacrifice that we signed up for.”

Marriage on the rocks?

The viral incident of Usha apparently leaving behind her wedding ring follows an interaction between the vice president and recently bereaved Erika Kirk during an on-stage moment with Vance in October. The 37-year-old made her debut at a Turning Point USA campus appearance since the killing of her husband.

At an event held at the University of Mississippi, Erika and Vance shared a hug, with Erika holding the back of Vance’s head, which ignited whispers of a possible affair. However, Kirk quickly quashed those rumors by explaining that her “love language is touch” and humorously added that she would have received “less hate” if she’d “touched the back of his a–.”
