Bristol councillor fears waste system will encourage fly-tipping

  1. What a daft idea. Leeds council had a booking system in place during the worst of the pandemic but dropped it as soon as it could, it makes no real sense to introduce one now.

If you reduce barriers to disposal of waste legitimately, you cut down on fly tipping. Leeds removed the fee they charge to collect bulky items precisely for this reason.

  2. I look at that picture of the entrance and the first thing I note is there’s no pedestrian provision. I looked at a few online:

When you make it so easy to drive to recycle, and so difficult to walk or cycle, surprise surprise – everyone drives. Which results in long delays.

What the council should be doing is providing alternatives – like Cargoroo bikes in Chorlton, which anyone can hire and use to take rubbish to the tip. And providing safe routes to do so.

  3. >It will replace the current vehicle registration plate system brought in during the pandemic to manage numbers

TLDR the council wants to maintain low staffing numbers and want a reason not to hire more staff

    >and encourage social distancing.

And here is the Bullshit reason they trying to use to justify failing to provide their residence a good service

Covid needed social distancing in confined and enclosed air spaces where people mix in close proximity……

The fucking tips are outside, smell like a tip and everyone has the same aim, GTFO ASAP!

Do the dam councillors imagine everyone is having a coffee morning and a snog at the tip or something?

  4. And don’t you dare think about bringing a trailer or god forbid, a van. I’m sure these restrictions are to deliberately piss people off.
