So I just got back from Las vegas where I went to many private parties and just drink whatever I wanted. At one event they have this spicy pickle beer.

I’ve just started to make pickles myself, and being surrounded by Ukrainian people I’m eating pickles very often. My first thought when the bartender offered me a pickle beer was “ this is disgusting”, but I had one anyway.

OMG, it was absolutely delicious. Some of the Ukrainian friends I was with couldn’t believe me until they tried it themselves and they also loved it. We called it babusia (babushka) beer because Ukrainian grandmothers traditionally make the best pickles.

If anyone knows where to find pickle beer, let me know. This particular brand was spicy, which was even better.

(and honestly, if you’re gonna criticize American craft beer, I don’t care it’s so much more delicious than most the stuff that comes out of the regular breweries here)

  1. I love pickles and I love beer, but this seems like a crime against both.

Never seen it either, but if anyone would know I guess it’s the people at “The Store” at the Gare since they have all kinds of specialty beer

  2. Have you tried adding pickle juice to a lager? I wonder how close that would get you.

  3. Go to ‘The Store’ in town, they sell right now a new craft beer released from Totenhopfen called ‘Hot and Fancy’. It contains cucumber but since the base beer is sour I get lots of pickle notes. Cheers.

  4. Just no .. buy some good belgian, german or luxembourgish beer and enjoy it!
