In a rare direct address between an Israeli official to the Lebanese outlet This is Beirut, the Israeli ambassador to the US directly spoken to Lebanon and it’s citizens with a call for peace.
I think what people don’t realize about this issue is that Hezbollah is not a small party in Lebanon. Even if a majority of Lebanese want to make peace, they’re fragmented. Shia make up over 30% of Lebanon’s population. That’s a massive group that are influenced by Iranian funding and narratives. Israelis would love peace with Lebanon, but it’s not clear that the partner they have can quell the internal dissent.
