As always, we tax people over 50k more than most countries while the bottom doesn’t get taxed similarly to other countries.
This is a country that mows down its tall poppies and disparages success as unearned wherever it finds it. A nation of thieves happy to have the government do the mugging.
£20/month FFS.
The coalition cost us £200/month in child benefit and tax credits and I don’t remember as much fuss.
Working-class complainers ought to be taxed as well. This country is run by boomers and pensioners, while the young are getting screwed over.
BROAD SHOULDERS = 52K A YEAR.
AIM HIGH EVERYONE.
If the same policies are extrapolated to Scotland by the Scottish government that damage will start at 43k. It’s fucking batshit.
People spend years in college and even longer in university to get a degree that enables them to get a decent paid job. They work their way up the ladder and eventually reach the 50k+ mark, only to be punished by the government for making something of their lives.
At the same time they reward the people on benefits.
I absolutely hate living in this country.
Equalist; determinist: Justice!
According to the Labour Party those people are rich and have the broadest shoulders.
Labour are so fucked.
So the difference between minimum wage and the higher tax band is now like 20k or so? Kind of fucked…
Lifelong labour voter here from getting Blair in in my 1st GE to the last one.
Absolutely zero fucking chance of me voting for them ever again though unless they make some significant changes at the top. They’re not worse than the Tories obviously but I no longer think the payoff of not having Tories makes up for Reeves and Lammy and the rest of the amateur politician crew. Fuck them.
Feels like the entire system is setup to keep the powers that be’s boots firmly on our fucking necks.
I don’t have to budget for food or bills really which is nice, but I also live in an ex council house and drive a 12 year old car, so swings and roundabouts 🤷♀️
When you have to use emotive words like ‘raids’ rather than presenting facts, you know you’re argument is weak
I was thinking of my next career move to see if I can increase my salary any further, but I honestly don’t see the point any more. This country just fucks you over at every turn.
I earn 50k and I’m living paycheck to paycheck, tax the fucking rich!
I find it hilariously funny of all the people complaining here about how the ‘UK discourages success!’ while tax rates here are insanely lower than all of the European countries they wish to emulate – France, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands..
As a life long labour member, it’s over, there’s no coming back.
It’s a rage inducing headline on an article saying that some people using salary sacrifice into their pensions will be paying a bit of NI in a few years time.
Ahh my exact wage which ive only got through multiple job changes and working hard to increase my seniority in a supposedly high demand field. At what point do I get to feel personally attacked?
I drive a 15 year old corsa and took out a 35 year mortgage for some breathing room. Right now I’m wondering whether I can actually afford to replace the failing windows in my house and the cost of having a kid frightens me to death.
Meanwhile the very wealthy get away with absolute murder.
Labour are disgusting
£52,000 in 2019 needs to be around £66,000 to buy the same things today.
20%-30% of people earn this currently in the UK , add on fiscal drag and people are absolutely up shit creek without a paddle when you take into account lower earners are getting the same squeeze as well .
The political elite work for BlackRock. When everything is fucked they come along to rescue/enslave us
All good for me because I have long exhausted my tax free allowance ☺️
The more I earn the more is taken away. When I was on £28k I could take home £2300 (best month) with night shifts, now I am on £42,200 with some overtime and take home £2400
