  1. Cannot post the translation – whatever. The point is those were not even common foot soldiers, a major, a captain, and two lieutenants.

  2. Sometimes problems have a funny way of solving other problems.

  3. How great is it that the MAGA has been so pro Russia and even made the claims that Russia is a better place to live than America under Biden, and this dick weed is killed by the people he idolized.

Fuck Russia, but double fuck any American that supports them.

The state prosecutor has requested sentences ranging from 1 year and 6 months to 15 years for Russian servicemen accused of murdering American volunteer and Sputnik “war correspondent” Russell Bentley. RBC reported this on December 6, citing sources. Earlier, the investigation concluded that the soldiers tortured the American to death.

Four servicemen are accused in the case. All of them served in the 5th Separate Motorized Rifle Donetsk Brigade named after the first head of the “DPR” A.V. Zakharchenko. Depending on their role in the crime, they are charged with murder with the use of torture, resulting in the death of the victim through negligence (Part 5, Article 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), desecration of the body of the deceased (Clause “a”, Part 2, Article 244 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), and concealment of a particularly serious crime (Part 4, Article 33 and Part 2, Article 316 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The prosecution requested 15 years of imprisonment for Major Vitaly Vasnyatsky, 14 years for Senior Lieutenant Vladislav Agaltsev, 13 years for Senior Lieutenant Andrey Iordanov, and 1 year and 6 months for Captain Vladimir Bazhin.

The case is being heard in the Donetsk garrison court in the territory of the “DPR”. The closing arguments have already taken place. The verdict is scheduled to be announced on December 8.

The 5th Motorized Rifle Brigade is known for torturing Russian soldiers for refusing to participate in “meat assaults,” ASTRA previously reported. To this end, the brigade has specially equipped basements located in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. In addition, the commanders of this unit force servicemen to transfer their salary cards to them.

    The Murder of Russell Bentley

Russell Bentley Bonner was born in Texas in 1960. He lived almost his entire life in his home state, working as a logger. In 2014, he moved to Donetsk, converted to Orthodoxy, and decided to fight against Ukraine.

From December 2014 to June 2015, Bentley, under the call sign “Texas,” served as a grenadier. He later admitted that he participated in the battles for the Donetsk airport and the village of Spartak. He also started a YouTube channel “about the crimes of Ukraine and the USA,” but deleted it in 2022. In October 2023, “Texas” became a journalist for the propaganda publication Sputnik.

Bentley died in the spring of 2024. As the investigation revealed, on April 8, he was detained by soldiers from the 5th motorized rifle brigade of the “DPR” while the American was filming the aftermath of a Ukrainian strike on a military unit: the war correspondent was mistaken for a spy. After that, Vansyatsky, Agaltsev, Iordanov, and Bazhin tortured Bentley and subsequently killed him.
They placed the American’s body in a car, which they then blew up with a TNT charge. According to investigators, in this way the soldiers wanted to present Bentley’s murder as a Ukrainian sabotage operation.

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, observers, investigators, journalists, and human rights activists have regularly documented war crimes committed by Russian servicemen against Ukrainians. Often, Russian servicemen commit crimes against their own fellow soldiers.

Earlier, “Vot Tak” launched the project “Army of Criminals”. This is a database of Russian commanders who are abusing their power in the war against Ukraine. Currently, the database contains 50 names, including those involved in the murder of Russell Bentley. The full list can be viewed at this link.

Hellhole isn’t even harsh enough for these demons.

  6. I did not read the linked article, because I am only fluent in English, but I did read the [Wikipedia article](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russell_Bentley) about this man (i.e. the last section, entitled “Later years, and death”). Does anyone know if this portion of the Wikipedia article is fairly accurate? I feel like it is a reminder to be careful about who you trust, especially large organizations, that may not actually care about you and may just want to use you as cannon fodder.

  7. Hopefully this guy realized he was on the wrong team in his final moments

  8. Wait, they’re actually punishing the killers? They did like this guy??? Especially considering everything that, allegedly, happened in his last hours of life?!

I love that this turned into a catastrophic case of friendly fire for the Russians!

  9. As much as I would’ve loved a FPV I sponsored to be the thing to take him out, I appreciate the Ruzz saving the Ukrainian’s the ammo.

  10. Oh, the irony!

An American who supports Russian war crimes and fights against Ukraine…only to be disposed of like garbage, by Russians.

  11. >As the investigation found out, on April 8, he was detained by the military from the 5th motorized rifle brigade “DNR”, when the American filmed the consequences of a Ukrainian strike on the military unit: the military officer was mistaken for a spy. After that, Wansyatsky, Agals, Jordan and Bazhin tortured Bentley, and later killed.

    how poetic

  12. “Behold the field wherein I sow the seed of mine cares; mark well that naught groweth there.”

  13. He was a 64 year old Russian “soldier” from Texas when he was tortured to death, though joining the Russian army is suicide.

  14. I remember watching his videos on YouTube 10 years ago and thinking how naive he was. It felt inevitable the Russians would kill him(probably in a cruel and barbarous way) before the ‘enemy’ would. I’m only surprised by how long it took.
