Browsing Dublin rentals and saw this place for €5000 per month. A 3 bed, 3 bath apartment.
That’s €60,000 a year! I’m just wondering, who in Dublin is on a salary high enough to afford that much rent? Is there anyone in this subreddit that’s honestly paying that much? No judgement if you are, I’m just curious about how many people can actually afford it.

FDA companies are paying it for execs
Corporate short terms I’d guess.
Very wealthy people who dont plan on living in Ireland long term. Or maybe a group of people, 1 couple in each room works out to be just over €800 per person per month.
Not people, companies. These are let short term for high level execs who may be visiting from other countries for a time.
Companies rent these for executives who aren’t originally from here and that they’ve moved over from other countries. It’s quite common.
Who is earning that and cannot buy a home is another question.
Tech workers on 200k+ who are only going to be here a couple years.
Rich people waiting for their new house to be built
It does come with access to the private gym and a residents lounge with hot desks, meeting spaces, and a games room. Almost cheap really when you consider all the extras /s
Like maybe two people on 120k+ each maybe young, wanting this kind of place. Even leaving aside sharing, there’s a lot of salaries at 150k+.
If you are in a high paying job (e.g. tech) and don’t mind sharing with two others, it’s probably only 1/5 of your monthly income.
People with buckets of money. World is awash with them. There are literally millions of people around the world that pay this kind of rent. You won’t meet them
on the LUAS or be beside them in traffic on the M50.
Crypto scammers, mostly Ryan Turbridy.
OP check out the SARP scheme, it allows very well paid foreign executives to pay much less tax than the general population
>Some 1,084 people employed in Ireland availed of tax relief under the so-called Special Assignee Relief Programme (Sarp) for foreign executives in 2017 – including eight individuals on salaries between €3 million and €10 million – resulted in a €28.1 million cost to the exchequer, according to the report, carried out by economic research firm Indecon.
High level corporate executives or expats with a housing allowance in their contract.
You guys are wrong… Almost nobody can afford to pay €5000 per month nowadays. Also, maybe some companies are renting these places to offer to high executives, but only this fact alone doesn’t explain this insane price as well. When you see a house like that, maybe you think it will be perfect for a couple to rent and raise their kids, but this is not what is happening. Those who rent these places are students or minimum wage workers. In the house will be living 8 to 10 people and each one of them will be paying around 500 to 800 euros per month. The landlord knows about it and he is happy because in this way he can make much more money than renting to a single-family. The problem is that the actual families working in Dublin just have 3 solutions: 1 – Live in a different city and commute almost 3 hours per day going to work. 2- Social housing. 3- Buy a place. The situation in the country right now is insane and looks like the government doesn’t care that much.
A few people sharing. Everything now is basically designed for fancy tenement conditions
