But to be serious, for the people like me it becomes more and more unsafe in Russia and after graduation from a university I seriously consider emigration to other, more progressive parts of Europe. But don’t panic, I have a will to integrate and to embrace the culture of a country I’ll emigrate to 😉 I love Western Europe in general, I’m happy to be able to speak 3 Western European languages and I have a deep emotional connection with European culture. Maybe that’s why I’ve found this sub))

Maybe Europe should get its shit together then. Because we still don’t have anything resembling an effective foreign or defence policy on the EU-level. We can’t even get to agree to use frozen Russian assets to help Ukraine, because bloody Belgium keeps whining about it. We also have countries like Hungary and Slovakia that are actively sabotaging the entire thing from within.
Most countries are also using Brussels as a dump for burn-outs that we don’t want to continue messing up our domestic politics, which is how you end up with von der Leyen at the head of the commission.
Let’s ditch the US. Let’s defend ourselves from our regional threats, never follow them again In their middle east shenanigans, and let them deal with China on their own.

I find this forced “hatred with an endearing touch” so cringe. How can you be European and judge people on their origin or ethnicity still? We are supposed to be united by shared values. I get that it’s a roundabout attempt to express sympathy in the ‘you know what, you’re not so bad for a Frenchie/Italian’ type of way but I find it very transparent and cringe
