I’m quite shocked. I had heard that due to Brexit, most companies of shared ownership would move to the EU. I can only presume the dutch have pretty unpleasant regulation for fossil fuel companies.
> A spokesman for economic affairs minister Stef Blok told the Financieele Dagblad that the government ‘deeply regrets’ Shell’s plan and that it has been ‘unpleasantly surprised’ by the news.
silly Dutch voting to leave the EU
Zero corporation tax 2018-2020 as facilitated by Westminster Tories
Help yourselves lads, its free real estate
Other Result of Brexit ?
Sounds like their oil wells will stay put though
Same thing happened to Anglo-Dutch firm Unilever earlier this year, left Rotterdam HQ to move their HQ to London
Essentially post-Brexit the UK government are going to slash regulatory oversight on most industries in order to attract companies back. Its a real race to the bottom.
>Shell has been incorporated in the UK with Dutch tax residence and a dual share structure since 2005
They’re simplifying their share structure. Still, a big loss I guess
*Shocked Pikachu* Brexit means brexit UK!
But Reddit told me every company would leave because of Brexit..
First Unilever now Shell. I thought companies were meant to leave the UK after Brexit.
And so the coping begins
But but but but….brexit?
Who was it that went on an on about how Paris/Amsterdam/Dublin/Frankfurt would replace London as Europe’s top city for business?
Anything that damages Rutte’s corporate cronyism is ok in my book, honestly.
Yes, it’s shitty to hope a government fails at their job. But he’s been barking up every wrong tree for a decade and seeing those birds coming home to roost is cathartic.
But the Netherlands is such a tax haven!? All companies want to be here /s
They’ll be moving HP Sauce production back to the UK in no time.
All the UK won is a big company who likes to keep on doing what to do.
Oh and not pay dividend taxes!
what no news about the investigation of Shell corruption in Nigeria, which is in it’s final stage? No news about dutch court decision to push Shell to limit C02 emissions?
No wonder they want to move out…
Journalists at their best…..
P.S. Unilever wants to hide their taxes. Good luck to them.
the financial world changed dramatically during last 3 years.
Serious question, can Shell still be named Royal Dutch Shell?
Oh good another fucking oil company
Company leaves the EU for UK = “whatever, didn’t like them anyway I’m actually really glad they’ve gone – I wanted this for ages”.
Company leaves UK for EU = “told you brexit would be a failure, why are you even doing it anyway, loool @ UK”
so, where are the people screaming about Britain going down the drain after Brexit?
Looking forward to seeing Dutch people of all nations to say this is about tax arrangements and why it’s bad but then Netherlands being a tax haven for Europe is a good thing.
Isn’t this a win for the Brexit people? It’s a euro company moving to the UK for tax and “ease of shareholding” reasons.
I guess they mainly want to escape the dutch climate action court ruling agains Shell which is mandatorily requesting them to reduce Carbon Emissions of their products by 45% by 2030.
Marky Mark is gonna go full goatse once again to keep Shell from leaving.
We’ll be here to pay those taxes with our income…
Good riddance
Did Shell ever get government funding from the Dutch? Seems like somewhat of a betrayal.
Hmmm… I wonder how much of a coincedense this is…
* They lost a case which forced them to become greener.
* The Dutch government agreed to stop investing in foreign oil projects last week
* Lastly they didn’t got their way with the dividenten tax.
Hell yeah I hope all major European companies move under the 👑

Shell will leave because of brexit. They don’t like the rules of the EU. While i am sure brexit lovers will use this a great win for the UK think about what you won. A fosil fule company who does not want to follow strickt climate rules. Remember shell [lost](https://www.shell.com/media/news-and-media-releases/2021/shell-confirms-decision-to-appeal-court-ruling-in-netherlands-climate-case.html) a lawsuit a while back to the state.
