So, Ukraine is fucked? Because on one hand it is the sweet Russian gas and on the other hand is some eastern country that no longer transmits the beforementioned sweet Russian gas.

That’s a false dilemma. Actually, Ukraine has been getting gas from the EU side of the network since 2015, when Russia stopped delivering to Ukraine.
Russia cannot afford to cut off all of Europe at the same time, so as long as we stick together that’s a controlled threat.
That should give enough time to ramp up our own renewable production.
