A core part of the propaganda machine at home in Russia is wheeling out tankies from other countries to talk pro-Russian points, to give the impression that the “ordinary” people of other European countries are actually in favour of Russia and Russian policies, its their Governments who are critical of Russia.

    It’s pretty standard stuff for authoritatian regimes. It means when they’re still fighting in Ukraine they can pretend that the “ordinary” person wants them to be there, which makes it OK.

  37. i don’t know anything about this guy. but would the people in this thread who are complaining about him agree that the news we get about the war in ukraine from our own media seems somewhat biassed also?

    it sometimes reminds me of the way news about WWII would have been presented to people in Britain at the time – only allowed to report the positives for fear of damaging morale. it’s all bad stuff and failures for the russians, all heroism and victories for the ukrainians.

    anyone else find that? seems like it’s all propaganda for one side or the other.

    He was (allegedly) posting under the @questionitall71 Twitter handle in 2014 and 2015 when the “Little Green Men” were invading Ukraine. All the content has been deleted but the account still follows Paddy Cosgrave. The account was heavily in praise of Putin and Russia in general, echoing Bowes’ own page under his own name.

    The Ditch was co-founded by Bowes in 2021, I’d argue he’s been a Russian asset/shill for nearly a decade before that.

    He’s been gargling Putin’s balls for a long time now. Nothing really surprising to some of us.

    Russia is welcome to send him directly to the frontline to witness Ukraine’s drone capabilities first hand.
    He’s of no loss to Ireland.

This is one of the founders of Gript, a “news magazine” with very murky financing who are mainly focused on gotcha articles about the Irish government on here and the “useful idiots” that buy it hook line and sinker and repeat the story without appreciating the source is there to undermine trust in the Irish state. There are Chay equivalents in every western country that the Russian state funds/compromising information in order to undermine democratic countries. Infamously another one of these was a property developer from NYC who was a small media star.
