The only solution is to yodel. It is the battle-cry that echoes amongst the mountains. Only the sound of music could even hope to compete.
But look, why should Switzerland and Austria join NATO?
It’s not like they share a border with a belligerent non-NATO country. Even Lichtenstein cannot be considered a serious threat.
While Sweden and Finland have an excellent case for joining NATO, I don’t see it as being critical in the cases of Switzerland and Austria. That said, we’re they to join, they would be assets to NATO.
I really, really don’t like the current hunt of pacifists and what it implies… Do we really need to repeat the entire stupidity of 20th century?
Western propaganda at its best
What price did Switzerland have to pay for banking the nazis (and collecting gold teeth from death camps) during WW2? Their ‘neutrality’ was a load of BS.
The Article mentions Swiss discussions about moving closer to NATO, albeit not to join.Seems fair enough.
One consideration though – Switzerland is basically a giant Bunker.Any possible foreign engagements seem diametrically opposed to Swiss strategic Doctrine.Thereby somewhat lessening the impact Switzerland may have in combined NATO Forces.
Not nagging on the cheesy Neighbours, just seemed an important point.
