Sault Ste. Marie Police have charged a 13-year-old with sexual assault.

Officers were called to a disturbance at around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday in the 600 block of Second Line West.

“An investigation revealed the youth had sexually assaulted a victim—also a youth—and verbally threatened an adult victim who intervened,” police said in a news release.

The teen is charged with:

Sexual Assault
Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.

The accused was held in custody pending a hearing in Weekend and Statutory Holiday court.
