  1. Scammers are the ones in government causing the bloody cost of living crisis.

They’ve exploited everything else, so why would this be different?

  2. Yeah, stay safe everyone. Signs to look out for include jacking up National Insurance rates and doubling standing charges on energy tariffs.

  3. This is an important message yet all people here seem to think is that’s it’s an opportunity to take the piss…

Look out for your loved ones and the most vulnerable people in your lives. Try to educate them on common scams and offer them a helping hand if they are ever in doubt. I think the advice at the very end of the article is very good, scammers will typically try everything to make you act now, legit places will normally be more than happy to give you time to think.

  4. I keep getting phony letters threatening legal action from Shell if I don’t pay them X debt now. Guess so many people aren’t paying them it’s an easy scam now.

  5. On the topic of money, at r/beermoneyuk there’s an offer at chase bank (similar to Monzo) where you get £20 for depositing £20 (thus you’ll have £40), if you want a code check out the sub Reddit or give me a message/check my profile 🙂

  6. Scammers never let a good crisis go to waste, just look at how many have jumped at the chance to profit off the Ukraine conflict. The best thing people can do is to stay vigilant and never give out financial information to those who ask for it, always contact your bank or HMRC directly if needed.

  7. Easy way to beat telephone scams. Never answer an incoming call unless it’s a number you know. If it’s someone you don’t know put the phone down. Doesn’t matter if it’s a company.
