  1. > The Scottish government has proposed legislation to make non-surgical treatments illegal for under-18s and require procedures to be carried out in approved premises.

I’m kind of surprised that it isn’t already illegal to use botox etc. on under-18s.

  2. So surly they should be told to claim the insurance of the practitioner?

  3. They were quick enough to stop gender affirming care for young trans people where it may be positive yet aren’t stopping gender affirming care for young people where it is causing harm – doesn’t make sense at all.

  4. I think there are two issues here:

    1. Under 18 using Botox and fillers.
    2. Administration of dodgy Botox and fillers by untrained and unlicensed “practitioners”.

I am less bothered by 1. I don’t agree with it, but it seems more of a moral issue than a health issue.

The second issue is a much bigger one. I’ve heard of hairdressers buying bulk high-dose Botox, and equivalents, and administering it in the back rooms of their salons. For the most part, this will not be an issue, but injecting too much, injecting in the wrong place, or injecting the wrong stuff can cause huge and long-lasting issues.

No officially licensed practitioner would administer Botox or filler to a child anyway.

  5. They were extremely angry … but no one could tell

  6. There’s a PT in Dundee whos has a PT and botox and lip filler business and he runs the latter out of the nack of his wife’s hair salon. So this isnt surprising

  7. Not to sound auld af, but where the fuck are the parents 🫠
