Ritratt: Uffiċċju tal-Komunikazzjoni, Il-Korp tal-Pulizija ta’ MaltaA 51-year-old English national was arrested at Malta International Airport in connection with the importation of over 19 kilograms of a substance suspected to be the drug khat, with an estimated street value of around €8,000.
The man was stopped by Customs officials upon his arrival on a flight from Amsterdam. During a search of his luggage, police discovered 100 packets containing the suspected drug.
Magistrate Monica Vella is leading an inquiry while police investigations are ongoing.
The man is expected to be arraigned in court today at around 10am before Magistrate Kevan Azzopardi.
