Pierre Boutin, president and CEO of Volkswagen Group Ireland, will guest on the second episode of Business Plus Talks, in association with Philip Lee.
Each episode of the BusinessPlus.ie podcast features host Dave Burke in conversation with a leading industry voice, who will share the inspiring conversation that changed everything in their career, business or outlook.
In the second episode, Boutin discusses what he was like growing up, the person in his life who shaped his views and reveals the toughest decision he ever had to make.
Boutin joined Volkswagen Group Ireland as managing director and CEO in 2024 after holding the same role for the automaker’s Canadian business.
Volkswagen Group Ireland has a network of more than 100 retailers nationwide and oversees the Volkswagen, Audi, CUPRA, SEAT, Å koda and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands.
The group was the largest seller of vehicles in Ireland last year with aggregated sales of more than 35,000, equivalent to nearly 30% of the market, according to figures from the Society of the Irish Motor Industry (SIMI).
Boutin first joined VW in 2014 and has previously led the group’s operations in Russia, France and Canada.
During his career, he also held executive positions with both Ford and Nissan across Canada and Europe.
He is a graduate of the Université Laval in Quebec, as well as the prestigious French business school INSEAD and MIT’s Sloan School of Management.
Boutin follows in the footsteps of David McKernan, who was the first guest on the podcast, discussing the highs and lows of taking on the coffee giants in Ireland when he set up Java Republic.
