Nationwide has named Michael Carrel as its new Chief Technology Officer as the company approaches its 100th anniversary.

“Michael brings deep business and technology experience to this role and will be a champion for enterprise adoption of AI and new technologies, delivering on our vision to be the most trusted, most caring, most customer-focused protection company,” said Kirt Walker, Nationwide CEO.

A seasoned technology leader with over 30 years at Nationwide, Carrel steps into the role after holding several senior leadership positions across the enterprise.

Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and CTO for Nationwide Financial, where he led technology strategy and delivery for the company’s financial services businesses.

In response to the appointment, Carrel stated, “Looking forward, our team will continue driving our enterprise adoption of AI and new technologies to advance our mission of protecting people, businesses and futures with extraordinary care.”
