Genius idea. I wouldn’t have really thought of there being any sincere use of it beyond say pig feed. Funny guy too.
You can burn turf alright but only if you make it from scratch.
I can only imagine the fucking lovely effect of a BBQ with that.
Honestly, this would be fucking great as a replacement for normal turf, assuming we can get it in enough quantities.
I hate seeing our previous native bogs being destroyed for fuel.
Ah jaysus my uncle will be out of business with this apple juice turf on the market
Why are we still burning shit?
It is a shame it produces the same air quality as firewood but if it catches on then it means less trees being cut down.
This leftover stuff must exist in Ireland too, we have orchids and cider production.
What a likeable man. Great stuff.
What a Chad
There is fairly famous story of a Brazilian couple that took massive amounts of waste from the orange juice industry and trucked it all to an area that was previously a forest that had been wiped out.
They simply dumped all that waste into the area which was several Sq km. Then they did nothing more and left it alone.
A decade later that area was a completely restored forest with a variety of native trees and wild animals that had moved in. There is a good documentary about it.
I wish I was a more optimistic person. But this story from Argentina and the Brazilian forest restoration make me think the earth’s ecosystem could be restored of it weren’t for greed and bad politics.
Counterfeit turf. I love it.
Not much footing needed in that country hi
I’ve seen it being used as Cattle feed over here. Smells incredible.
This is the waste from giving it to me straight.
Need to send this to my da, how do ye download this?
The part where they’re adding water to the slurry just to manage it in the machinery is creating a lot of the following problems of drying. Seems better to change the processing methods after the 3rd squeezing that’s removing fruit juice.
I have only my one pass at the vid, but couldn’t the slurry be pushed into brick molds at that point?
It’s just that the factories haven’t looked at the slurry with an eye to monetize it as an ancillary product. They’re just seeing an additonal expense in buying new equipment. If the processing plants were to be lauded and compensated for their work to repurpose the slurry, there’d be intere$t in it.
I’m confused. Would you not just till it into the soil and recycle the nutrients? Clearly all that stuff is necessary for making apples, after all.
“It’s not tiring, I’m just that fat” I don’t remember being interviewed but ok
Drying it out fully in just a few days! Irish people have to spend half a summer on the bog turning and footing it to get it to damp.
What do Irish cideries do with the waste pomace? If you kept the skin, cores and seeds apart, surely you could use it for apple sauce?
