Donald Trump claims Sadiq Khan is only London mayor because of mass migration as he reignites war of words

  1. Mr Trump hit out at the London Mayor during a wide-ranging interview on the state of Europe, immigration and the war in Ukraine.

    The US president claimed Sir Sadiq has only been able to win elections in London because of increasingly large amounts of immigration.

    He said: “I mean, look at… your mayor of London. He’s a disaster. He’s a disaster.”

    “He’s got a totally different ideology of what he’s supposed to have. And he gets elected because so many people have come in.”

    The president added: “He’s a horrible mayor. He’s an incompetent mayor, but he’s a horrible, vicious, disgusting mayor. I think he’s done a terrible job. London’s a different place.”

    This marks the latest attack by the President on Sir Sadiq, with the pair being locked in a war of words since the President’s 2017 state visit.

    “I think President Trump has shown he is racist, he is sexist, he is misogynistic and he is Islamophobic,” Sir Sadiq told Sky News in September.

  4. Why is anyone giving “Trump says…” noticeable and uncritical airtime these days?

    The guy talks so much crap you can’t rely on anything he says. Reporting his lies and fabrications only helps him.

    Also, Trump has a very specific reason to trash-talk Khan, the EU, and anyone who isn’t a bigoted authoritarian: because he wants the world to be run entirely by people like him, to make autocracy the only way any country is run, instead of having people with ideas that threaten his rule. He wants to make it sound like they are weak and failing because he wants them to be weak and to fail. He is lying in the hope that people believe his lies and begin to act like they’re true by changing to follow autocrats and give up on keeping freedom, tolerance, and equality.

    “Trump does” is still relevant, unfortunately, but simply moving the Orange Jowls doesn’t mean much.

  5. Honestly I think Sadiq quite enjoys how much he gets under Trump’s skin, and the converse of it is that Trump supporting Americans are less likely to visit London too so it’s a win win

  9. I could have a guess, but I don’t really know why Trump has such a specific hard on for Khan. The mayor of London has no bearing on much of anything tangible in Trump’s pathetic sphere of an ego.
