  1. Now if they could just delete these half cooked notions from their brains we’d be getting somewhere

  2. Now if they could just delete the contracts of all of the people who wasted public money making the video. But we all know that won’t happen

  3. They’re really inspiring confidence in their competence.

  4. I saw the minister throwing his officials under the bus over it. You’d think all those ex-journos they hire as special advisors would be able to catch and kill this kind of stupid tone deaf initiatives.

  5. The Department of Housing… says it all really. If you voted for FFG, this is what you voted for.

  6. A group of people sat down in a room and decided that this concept was a good idea and someone else wrote the script and that someone else signed off on; even as the shite was being filmed, they all thought it would be a roaring success. How out of touch are they?

  7. Trying to spin the blame on spunout lol, even tho they posted it as if it were their own.

Then the spineless Chambers and Browne trying to hide behind spunout’s charity status and work was the cherry on the cake.

But what can we say, there was an election last year and this is the shower of cunts we got. Enjoy the next four years, perhaps people will get off their hole and bother to go out and **vote against** them next time.

  8. I’ve not seen the video but you can never undo being the person that made that.

If the housing minister calls to your door looking for a vote you can say “aren’t you the housing minister that championed moving back in with my parents?”.

I’d say it’d be better for your political career to kick a child with special needs on the floor of the dail than make this video…..

  9. “Should we build some houses?”

“Lol fuck no, why would we do that? Too much effort. Just make a video telling people to go home to their ma and da, be grand.”

    “People hate the video.”

“Fuck. I’m out of ideas so. Take it down, I guess?”

    “Done. And…houses?”

    “Lol!”

    “I’m serious.”

“Oh. Well, still no. We don’t get to look like one of the richest countries in the world on paper if we spend money on things we don’t need.”

    “We need houses!”

“‘We’ as in FFG. We’ve all got houses already. We don’t need them. Is there anything to be said for another video?”

  10. What were they thinking in the first place, they weren’t just wasting tax payers money

  11. Funny how the group who made the video, youth body SpunOut, are getting no criticism.

  12. I’ve been living at home for a decade, now my mother’s dead, my father’s disabled, I’m a full time carer, and I have to do all the dishes.

  13. I doubt the minister spends too much time mulling over comms, he has a PR special advisor on a PO salary doing that work for him. However the fact that this was conceived, scripted, filmed, edited and published shows the absolute rot and the absolute melt of the people who are working within his circle.

  14. So it was real? Here I was thinking i had some weird fever dream yesterday

  15. Next up: a video about preparing to commute for over an hour to travel 7km to work due to abysmal transport infrastructure. Common sense tips like get a good audio book and rain gear, be brave enough to cycle….

  16. What sort of a dickhead would you want to be to be happy to put your voice and face to that. There have been many lows with this government but this one has a more sinister feel to it

  17. Negative commentary? More like brain injured people in charge of these campaigns need to be removed from their positions

  18. I get to some it was an insult but for me personally in this moment of my life not knowing where things will go, I wish I had that option to at least fall back on. People who can do that are lucky in a way, it might not appear it in the moment but trust me having a decent support structure to fall back on isn’t something to laugh at.

  19. The people in power are so out of touch that it’s unbelievable.

  20. Im getting Deja Vu here. Didn’t like 8 or 10 years ago, bank of ireland did a similar ad and it also got deleted for the same reason?

  21. Where’s our Housing Czar, by the way?! Is that another broken election promise?

  22. Don’t worry, the government will soon be rolling out online surveillance and censorship to solve the negative commentary problem!

  23. Ah yes, Mary’s 3 kids and 6 grandkids should move into a one bedroom “apartment” that used to be 2 storeys but was split into 2 separate “apartments” so you can charge each one as the price of one and double your profits.

I’m just basing that off my own anecdote. Some quality of life that is for a child to share a single bedroom with 10 others.

  24. Personally I think the message may have been muddled, but the idea is right. There are far far too many people (not all) who are living with their parents and not paying any rent, not doing anything to help out, and for whom a remainder that their parents are not a free ride and to pull their weight would not go amiss.

  25. I had to check it multiple times to see was it a parody account, could not believe not just on person, but MULTIPLE people thought that was a good idea.

  26. Just shows how desperate the government is. About 50 percent of mid twenties live at home. Are they going for 100 percent.
Need to manage both supply and as we are realising also demand.

  27. Goes to show how out of touch these clowns are. How many people approved this idea from inception to reality.

  28. Next it will be ‘how to get home when the dart lines are suspended, and the busses are full’ video.
It will consist of a young person, smiling, in bright sunny weather, calling the mother asking if they can get a lift, and it will be rephrased as quality time with your folks.
