If Europe doesn’t put Spotify on a lease soon, they’ll have their own billionaire oligarch class to deal with
Greece: Yanni, and only Yanni forever more.
Greece’s flab spilling over to the other aisle. smh my head
These color choices are horrendous.
Can we get song names and bands ?
I like discovering new music
I’m kinda shocked at the lack of electronic because when I check monthly listeners of electronic artists they always seem rather higher in average.
Is electronic really not that popular or is it missing some electric categories here?
Not a lot of Country Music fans in Europe huh?
It is good to note that not all music listeners in a country use Spotify. Probably these lean towards the tastes of younger people
Judging from Others in Sweden & Norway on some weeks, I bet it’s either Melodeath for Sweden or Black Metal for Norway. but love that Norway still pumping up Rap on popular culture while having steady fanbase on Extreme Metal.
Soft colors are no good for the colorblind
What’s up with the Netherlands and afrobeats?
What genre would be the “Other” in the Netherlands?
Shouldn’t AI music be it’s own category?
Would love to hear more about why Greece leans so hard in a single direction.
Does that genre bleed out into any other countries?
The grey, light blue, and light grey blue is incredibly hard to tell apart… downvoting.
Greece being fully dominated by one top is really interesting, I initially thought the other light blues were the same Laiko, but it probably isn’t?
Oh goddamn it Finland, you were supposed to be Heavy metal Valhalla!
I assume “Other” is all fascist advertising?
I’ve lived in Poland for years. It’s pure Reggaeton everywhere.
Where does K POP demon hunters fall into this categorization.
What’s up with the massive blocks of text over some of the countries? Makes it close to impossible to see a bunch of months.
This is very much not ‘data is beautiful’. If Other is almost the modal category overall you need better categories. Afrobeat only has a presence in a few weeks in the Netherlands but is it’s own category, whereas several countries are almost all ‘Other’, which is probably because Rock/Metal is missing.
No Rock or Metal but there’s “afrobeats”.
Yeah the “other” category is supposed to be the smallest in charts not this.. It’s the biggest category simply because they don’t wanna talk about Rock/Metal (Northern Europe) and Folk-Pop (South and South-Eastern Europe).. Yet Afrobeats is represented even though it’s in like only one county.. wtf
Spain and Portugal; Dem bow riddim playing at the grocery store.
Not covering sweden with facts about greece would be nice
This is beautiful data indeed
It is a Bit corse; isnt it?
There is only one country where electronic was dominant for a few weeks and only one country where afrobeats was dominant but like half of the chart is grey, wtf? There must have been some other more popular genre that you just didn’t put in there for some reason

Those blues are near useless with how similar they are.
What happens in August in France?
Too many “other”, needs work on categories, how did you determine what gets labeled and what’s left out?
I f you have Afrobeat then you can ceertainly split out Jazz, Folk and Classical from Other. Is Rock no longer a thing?
Spotify told me with my “wrapped” I were listening to 367 different genres last year. Didn’t even know there are so many.
