Just wondering why you don’t want migrants to have a good level of English to come here?
At this rate we should just force long term unemployed claimants into the armed forces, NHS and other public services. They get a job, the government gets more tax payers and working people like myself don’t have to shoulder the burden of the low life, work shy parasites anymore
It goes without saying benefits are supposed to be there for those in need, I.E, disabled, crippled, Children and Elderly to name a few. It’s amazing we have such a system in place. But I’d be damned if I’m not sick and tired of people faking illnesses, disabilities and have children they know they can’t support themselves, knowing that those of us with some self respect and a job are going to pay for it.
As for “So it’s not the migrants claiming all the benefits?”. Extra people turning up into an already shit job market, go on to unemployment benefits amongst other benefits, only make the situation worse. It’s very much importing more problems.
Racism is expensive. See the UK after Brexit.
Kemi claimed Brexit was a ‘shock’ to the UK this week. I say this, to say they know all of these policies harm the economy and make us all poorer but they don’t care because caring and being honest won’t keep them in post. Alienating the European workforce was plain stupid.
Our economy relies on immigration. If you want to have no immigrants you will need to radically change the way education, training and business works. We simply don’t have the people to run the economy in this country. I have yet to see a convincing argument for all these new visa restrictions.
So apart from the sensationalist headline it’s a clear admission that if we get people trained and off benefits then it will be offset by lower welfare costs. If some of that it’s due to having to pay Britsh workers more then it’s an admission that incoming workers are being exploited on cheaper wages – how is that ethical ?
Who knows maybe we will see a proper labour market with wages and wage inflation driven by market forces and job hours and conditions like most countries have instead of a government fixed ‘standard’ wage that is ‘all you have to pay’.
Legal immigration is completely under the control of the government, and it was the Tories who falsely believed that people wanted to replace EU migrants with non-EU migrants. Even Farage once said, ‘Why do indian engineers have a harder time than EU engineers? ‘ when making the case for Brexit. He also promised a deal similar to Norway minus free movement, that never happened!
Brexit still remains the greatest act of economic and political self-harm in the history of the UK. All the lies have been exposed at this point, and the leave campaign was funded by Russia.
just 1 million more migrants, and the economy will improve.
ooo don’t halt migration. What about the economy, economy will go down.
Tell me the per capita change. Nominal numbers are totally irrelevant, of course GDP goes up if you bring in more people.
Illegal immigration costs us less than 7 billion a year.
FFS.
They have a duty to balance the cultural shift caused by mass immigration and the economic impact. It can’t just be GDP at all costs.
Oh how i wish we were in thr single market…
I don’t understand why if someone pays more tax = the more valuable they are. As if people from MENA region, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia, are more culturally incompatible than people from the Anglosphere; Europe (mainly Western & Northern), and East Asia.
Contrary to what most politicians seem to believe, the UK is more than just an economic zone.
What’s more important? GDP or the protection of our current way of life? I don’t care about growth if it means my local area changes to represent something I no longer recognise
It never was
So between £2.2 billion to £10.8 billion over 5 years.
So as little as £0.4 billion per year.
More than worth it.
I’m so glad this stupid “speak my language” debate is going to be a thing of the past with AI wearables.
