Someone get trump a drink or 10
The plot thickens:
>Wendy Williams’ attorney says she could be out of her court-appointed conservatorship “by year’s end” because she allegedly does not have frontotemporal dementia and aphasia …
>Though details of Williams’ conservatorship case are not public, her ex-husband Kevin Williams Hunter’s June lawsuit over her “improper, legally deficient, and overreaching guardianship” continues in New York federal court. Defendants are due to file their responses to Hunter’s amended complaint in January …
>Williams passed “[a competency evaluation](https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2025/03/11/wendy-williams-interview-cognitive-test-welfare-check/82279502007/)Â in or around March 2025″ and was “described by healthcare professionals as alert and oriented during welfare checks,” Hunter’s complaint said.
Respectfully, she’s a terrible person. Good luck.
This whole conservatorship thing is really bizarre. I still don’t know how someone who does not know Williams and is not related to her can control her entire estate.
I watched the doc on HBO and did some Googling about the situation /u/Interesting-Risk6446
My understanding of the situation:
In the late 2010s/early 2020s, Wendy had a series of health problems (plus a substance abuse relapse). This led to the eventual end of her show.
Wendy apparently didn’t use a fancy wealth management firm. She used Wells Fargo. In the early 2020s, Wendy’s college age son was spending a truly crazy amount of money. He was renting yachts, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars, etc. Wells Fargo would call Wendy to verify the purchases and over time became more and more concerned about her ability to consent. They eventually notified the State of New York.
Once the State stepped in, they found a lot of family members were spending wildly, therefore none of them could be trusted to manage her money. So they appointed an independent lawyer as her conservator.
At this point, Wendy got a diagnosis of alcohol induced dementia. This can actually go away when you stop drinking, but it can come back.
Wendy was placed by the lawyer in the fanciest NYC assisted living. It looks amazing. The benefit of her living here is that trained staff can check in on her. Wendy can still go out of the building, she’s not trapped there. But they won’t let her drink at the in house bar and she’s younger than the other residents. Wendy doesn’t like living there because of the oversight and the age of the other residents.
Meanwhile, her family has been put on a budget. And they don’t like that, so they want to conservatorship to end.
IMO, it is a tough situation.
Alcohol induced dementia happens at over 28 units per week, for years. Thats 280 grams of alcohol or 20 US drinks. Assuming Williams got this diagnosis in 2019, you normally have to have a sustained drinking patterns like this for over five years. Which would put her drinking pattern at the latest beginning in 2014 at the age of 50
Edit:
All cause dementia risk rises over 23 drinks per week or 38g per day. That’s just 266 grams a week.

TIL you can get Alcohol induced dementia. I suppose it’s similar to Marijuana induced psychosis. That’s horrible
For all the garbage and shit she did, she deserved every bit of it.
Have any staff members from her show ever said anything on what was going on behind the scends of her TV Show? Did they know there was a problem? Did they witness drinking?
The lawyer mispronounced crack.
ya i forget whats going on too when im blackout drunk too, luckily my brother saves me in those times
I’ll let you know when I give a fuck.
Aka, there’s about to be a bunch of lawsuits about her shittiness and she needs a cover story before the trials.
Had? Don’t you mean has?
I know someone younger than her who has alcohol induced dementia and she’s not likely to get out of assisted living, ever. Feel so bad for her (now ex) husband and kids.
I can only imagine how bad it was that Wells Fargo stepped in. Wells Fargo, the same bank that made fake accounts.
That’s real. My buddy had that a year ago and he was a bumbling space cadet for a week. Didn’t remember a single thing.
Who cares? Let her spend her money however she wants for her remaining days. She didn’t request the conservation and neither did family or friends. Her bank did. And that seems like a giant conflict of interest.
My uncle has alcohol induced dementia, it’s brutal
She looks like ET
I worked as a social worker in a nursing home in New Hampshire and we had a gentleman who was 54 with ETOH dementia. Which is alcohol related. So very sad.
I thought this was about Wendy O. Williams at first.
Let’s go with that.
Meh. Remember when she joked about Drew Carey’s ex girlfriend being murdered by being thrown off a balcony with “come on down!”, yeah. did she forget she was black because that picture is very pale
