As excitement builds ahead of the Junior Eurovision 2025 Grand Final, CyBC is turning the spotlight on Cyprus’ long-standing involvement in the contest with a dedicated retrospective airing this Saturday on RIK2. The 30-minute special will revisit the island nation’s eleven entries since its debut in 2003, celebrating two decades of young Cypriot talent on the Junior Eurovision stage.

Hosted by Andreas Anastasiou, Head of Press for Cyprus at both Eurovision and Junior Eurovision, the program will guide viewers through the country’s musical path in the competition — from early appearances to its most recent efforts — offering a nostalgic look at performances that helped shape Cyprus’ presence in the junior contest.

The retrospective will precede the live Grand Final, where Cyprus returns with Rafaella and Christos, selected internally after a competitive audition process involving 70 young hopefuls. Their song, “Away”, chosen from 20 submitted entries, is the work of an experienced international songwriting team including Christopher Wortley, Hannah Brine, Peter Barringer, Greig Watts, Paul Drew, and Andy Lys. The duo will take to the stage in slot number 16 on Saturday night.

With a rich history behind it and a promising new act ready to represent the nation, Cyprus sets the tone for a celebratory Junior Eurovision evening — starting with a heartfelt look back at the moments that defined its journey.

The special airs Saturday, 13 December at 17:30 on RIK2.
