Skydiver gets parachute caught on plane wing | ABC NEWS
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau has released a report into a skydiving incident in which a man was left dangling from a plane in far north Queensland in September. The parachutist was climbing out of the plane’s side door when the handle for his reserve parachute got stuck on the wing flap. The parachute deployed in the process, leaving the man connected to the plane and dangling 15,000 ft in the air. He used a hook knife to free himself from the reserve parachute and he landed safely. 13 other skydivers jumped out of the plane while the incident was unfolding.
A video released by the ATSB shows a skydiver cutting himself free after his parachute became caught on the wing of an aircraft.
The incident occurred when the diver accidentally released his reserve parachute while exiting the plane.
The investigation found the pilot responded quickly, despite some failures.
