China is the world’s largest consumer of coal. The grid is powered by 51% coal fired turbines. They have more photovoltaic panels manufactured than can be sold to the world. Building solar farms is a good way to reduce inventory.
Market modernization in action. Meanwhile, in the US, grid upgrades mean NIMBY lawsuits, endless zoning drama, and a whole lot of engineers stuck in review meetings instead of actually building something.
