As long as Ukraine remains where it stands, at the crossroad of Russia and Europe, they won’t ever be free of any kind of influence. Be it European, Russian or US. They bore most of the weight for Russia during WW2, and were certainly a centerpiece of german strategy in the eastern front aswell. How many people died on Ukrainian soil during those years ? 20 millions ? And before that ? Holodomor is a dreadful wound in Ukrainian history. I don’t think anyone really knows.
