The Lithuanian government plans to decide soon on blocking communications to combat balloons from Belarus.
The Interior Minister Владислав Kondratovych said this on Ziniu radijas, Ukrinform reports citing LRT.
According to the minister, declaring a state of emergency across the country will allow faster decision-making and the use of additional resources.
Context and Priority Steps
Yesterday we issued my first order, as the head of operations, on the basis of which both operators and representatives of the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Ministry of Internal Affairs must, in urgent order, consider proposals for possible blocking of communications, blocking of cards, and their detection, which should also facilitate operational actions in searching for and identifying possible batches of smuggling from Belarus
– Vladyslav Kondratovych
According to him, this concerns the unification of certain rules, since different operators use different rules for distributing SIM cards: some are stricter, others more liberal.

And we see that there are people who buy cards in large quantities, and yes, perhaps all sorts of things

As reported, on December 9 the Lithuanian government declared a state of emergency nationwide due to the prolonged influx of balloons used for smuggling from Belarus.
The expected result of these initiatives is stronger control over the use of communications and easier detection of smuggling from Belarus.
