Hello! This is my second 3D rendered elevation of Finland after the one I made of Koli. This time, the Halti area, in Lapland, based on a 1965 map. I hope you like it.

  1. And as the previous time, here you have some more information about the project:

The elevation data is 2 metres resolution and can be found [here](https://tiedostopalvelu.maanmittauslaitos.fi/tp/kartta?lang=en).

The original map is available in high resolution under [this](http://vanhatpainetutkartat.maanmittauslaitos.fi/?lang=en) link.

I made the 3D effect using QGIS and Blender, and editing a bit the lights on Photoshop afterwards. If you are further interested in the process, give me a shout and I will try to help with tutorials, tips and whatnot 🙂

I hope the resolution is good enough for you to scroll around and check the area. Any anecdotes, experiences there or curiosities are appreciated 🙂

In case you want to see some more 3D maps of the world, you can also find me at [@the.itinerarium](https://instagram.com/the.itinerarium) on Instagram.

    Kiitos!

  2. Wow. Beautiful work!

Do you have any tips where to learn making maps? Are you self learned, or did you study the subject in university or something like that?
