Why? The Soviet Union have clearly committed a genocide on the Polish people by mass murders such as the Katyn Massacre between 1939-41 and 45, I remember my Grandma told me horrific story of how she and her family survived in Siberia until Hitler invaded the Soviet Union. So surely the Russian Assets would've been enough to cover the damages by the Soviet Union. Let's not forget when the Stalinists continued murdering people during the post war.

  5. the only reason russia still does what it does is because the Soviet union never faced the consequences of its crime. the people running it just suddenly became critical of it and no one really admitted they were wrong

  8. At this point everyone might as well start stealing from everyone else for the crimes of their ancestors. That’s insanity.

    The point of spending frozen Russian assets is not that it’s morally justified, it’s that we’re at (proxy) war with Russia right now and should try to harm it by taking away its funds. Just give it to Ukraine to spend on killing russians. The idea that we deserve some of it for WW2 is baseless.

  11. War reparations exist, but for Jews, not Poles. As the saying goes in Poland, “Sausage is not for dogs.”

  13. The soviet union doesn’t exist anymore. Even in the picture, they’re in Lvov which is in Ukraine now. Why not just invade Ukraine and take it back? Seems like a popular thing to do these days.

  34. Perhaps Poland will compensate Russia, as the legal successor to the USSR, for damages for Poland’s actions during the civil war? And, of course, the territories that belonged to the Russian Empire in 1918 must be returned.
