A food safety warning has been issued in Canada after concerns were identified involving certain nut-related products, prompting a recall by federal authorities.

The recall affects multiple pistachios and pistachio-containing products distributed under various brands in several provinces, including Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador. The affected items were sold through grocery stores, specialty retailers, and online marketplaces.

Consumers are being advised not to eat, serve, sell, or distribute any of the affected items. Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious illness, with symptoms including fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. In some cases, the infection can lead to more severe complications, particularly for young children, seniors, pregnant individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

Health officials say symptoms may appear several hours to several days after consuming contaminated food. Anyone who believes they may have become ill after eating pistachios or pistachio-based products is encouraged to seek medical advice.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency says recalled products should be thrown out or returned to the place of purchase. Consumers are also being reminded to clean and sanitize any surfaces, containers, or utensils that may have come into contact with the recalled items to help prevent cross-contamination.

The recall is part of an ongoing food safety investigation, and officials note that additional products could be added as more information becomes available.

Here is a complete list of places that have sold the recalled products.
