    If an attack is significant, deliberate, and prolonged, the President of the United States, after immediate consultations with Ukraine, NATO, and European partners, will determine what measures need to be taken to “restore security.”

    And in case you missed it, France didn’t receive American support in 1939 when Germany attacked again.

  20. Unless it will be ratified by Congress and Senate it will be just a paper like Budapest memorandum. Once it’s ratified the US will be obligated by law.

    The Trump administration has repeatedly wiped it’s ass with US laws, constitution and legal president. Why would international law be any different?

No matter what ends up on this paper, is there really *anyone* who think Donald Trump won’t wipe his wrinkly ass with it as soon as the Ukrainians actually need to call on these guarantees? It’s worse than nothing, because at least if there were no security guarantees no one would be able to make the mistake of ever relying on them.

    Even NATO membership itself is fast approaching irrelevance because who in their right mind still believes the Trump regime would honour their Article 5 commitments against Putin if push comes to shove.
