a little victory we can all smile at, were good at the music, our neighbours like the noises we make

  1. Always fearful every year that it’ll be the one where Sweden catch us. Gotta win another one soon to keep that gap.

Also, I’m sorry as I understand the wider political message, but that Ukrainian song was utter horse shit. Easily one of the worst of the night. Lithuania was my fave but honestly, your man for the UK had a blinder. Deserved it more than the Ukraine entry.

  2. Considering we haven’t won it in 26 years and have only made the final once in the last 8 competitions I’d say they don’t like the noises we make all that much any more

  3. People seem to forget that when Ireland were winning there were only 22-25 entries… where as there were 40 this year. Also back then I was pretty much exclusively Western European countries and not the clique voting you see now. And I might be wrong but the vote was entirely down to the jury vote and there was no public vote.

Apart from that the Irish entries just haven’t been good enough. This years entry was alright… but alright isn’t good enough. The production just sounded like it was made by some bedroom producer… sounded cheap and flat.

  4. Such a waste of time and resources. Clowns saying its not political voting lol. It was always a competition for second place .

Just disband it already. Australia competing in a European song contest, give me a break, the fans of this tripe are deluded

  5. Ireland’s position will be history fairly soon if we don’t start winning again, we’re rarely getting to the finals any more. And we even sent Dustin the Turkey (John Morrison) who couldn’t sing, mocked the contest and got booed off in the semi final.

Even though it’s a bit of a joke, I genuinely have my doubts as to whether RTE are fully behind choosing a winning entry, after all they have a vested financial interest in not winning. We need to look at a different selection process even though it will still need RTE input.

  6. I think someone somewhere probably in Dublin decided Ireland does not want to host that shite again so makes sure to send only crap acts to represent us.

Also I forgot Australia are in the mix now too… When are they gonna bite the bullet and rename it to the Television Song Contest
