  1. The group occupying the building “have also flown flags, including the Starry Plough and banners from the building with the words “Housing for the People.”

  2. From the article and I quote

It is claimed that the group intends to use the building to accommodate homeless people.

What a load shite….who’s gonna pay wages of staff?who’s gonna fix up the building..who’s gonna pay the electric and gas bill? Fucking dickheads

  3. Has this revolutionary group not been on social media recently? It’s Ukranians we care about now. Homeless people? What do they think this is, 2018?

  4. It was closed early 2021. Now they’re saying they want to renovate it for ukrainian refugees? Smells like bullshit.

  5. Good on them for trying to help the homeless. Once they have the building, I imagine their organisation contains members who are builders who can fix the building and make it safe for habitation.

Seems like they are one of the few groups actually doing anything to help homeless.

  6. Where are the cops? This bullshit shoukd hsve been ended 20 minutes after it was reported. Instead they let them put up flags and talk shit to the media

  7. Just get that landlord from a few weeks ago to go in and threaten them with his tire iron. If he’s not too busy running in his local elections

Edit : Just to keep him fresh in everyones mind and far away from any chance of winning an election, [here](https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/news/roscrea-landlord-who-was-filmed-pinning-a-man-to-a-wall-reveals-plans-to-contest-local-elections-as-an-independent-candidate-41643672.html) is an article with his face , name and approximate address

  8. Everybody will be mad to start shouting crusty at these lads and that’s fair enough.

Work needed to be done is a fix on the roof and a fix of the steps to stop a leak.

I’m not saying there is anything untoward going on but why has it gone from a place that houses homeless children to a place that houses Ukrainian refugees?

Have we fixed the homeless children problem? Have we got them somewhere else? Is there more money to be made in the refugee business?

Is anybody asking these questions or are we interviewing people until we get enough to make them look bad.

From what I can see from their Irish accounts half their income goes on wages and pensions. 7 million.

Is that normal. There could very well more going on than a lad wanting to open his house to the Ukrainians and a bunch of crusties stopping the builders from assembling loads of IKEA beds for them.

  9. Interesting how the supposed plan to house Ukrainian refugees only emerged on the third day of the house’s occupation, despite the house lying vacant for over a year, and the Russian invasion having been ongoing for months at this stage.

Almost like a narrative is being whipped up by the property owners to justify eviction.

  10. Imagine telling James Connelly that a bunch of women and children were fleeing from war and charities were going to give them homes in Ireland but a group swooped in and stole the house… and named it after you

  11. This building has been unused for a year and only now, when people who have fled their war torn homeland are going to be settled there, do they get off their arses and occupy it. What the fuck? Where did that motivation come from?

  12. Passed by the building earlier this week. The Gardaí had erected “CRIME SCENE” tape around as if they were dealing with a multiple homicide in south central LA.
