That’s pretty much the situation right now.

  1. Of course, the Polish have been through this before and know what it is like, literally dying while waiting for help/aid to be arranged and international forces to arrive… my Polish great grandfather Kazimierz and his family went through this in WW2. So proud of the Polish people.

I also love that they are allowing people to bring their pets without documentation and helping care for exotics from zoos. Pets are hardly ever mentioned. They may be non-human but they are family too 🐾

  2. Thats not true, even though their recent decisions have been questionable, their stance towards the war is right and theyre making efforts to help UA and its people

  3. So…. the Polish govt didn’t open their borders, give humanitarian aide, 20-something fighter jets, weapons, and miscellaneous supplies… got it. That must have been some pro-polish propaganda.

    ?

  4. The polish government did help. Just because you don’t like the current leadership doesn’t mean it didn’t do anything. Of course people helped a lot but so did all of the things previously stated in the comments here. We just have hospitality as a national trait and it shows. Of all the Europeans we should know how war feels like best.

  5. Saw this on a meme exchange site too. Come on folks, you can disagree with PiS 95% of the time, but why should that blind you to the right things they may be doing… Yes, polish people have been doing an amazing job on the humanitarian front, but so has the polish government. Credit where credit is due

  6. Nah, i hate them too, but i have to admit that they did pretty well during this crisis

But yeah, people who take refugees to their houses are freaking angels

  7. That’s not really true though they opened the borders to Ukrainians and just sent MiGs.

  8. “We are ready to supply to Ukraine several dozen thousand rounds of
ammunition and artillery ammunition, air defense systems, and also light
mortars and reconnaissance drones,” Morawiecki said, as quoted in a
    statement released by his office.

  9. Polish gov not only got involved in financial and military aid for Ukraine, but practically became Ukraine’s ambassador on the international forum.
Polish gov allocated 950 mln USD to help Ukraine.

  10. Polish people organised everythink themselfes, but govroment did much to

  11. Ehh, you can’t help such amounts of people just by fundraisings, it’s a fault. Even if people one by one start to pay some money it wouldn’t help, but combined with opening borders and other actions it could help. ( I’m polish and I don’t like our government but I don’t think that it’s only peoples help not govts )

  12. I am a Ukrainian and I am currently in Warsaw.

Thank you for your support during such a difficult time for my country. I am very grateful to Polish people for what they are doing for us.

    Thank you a lot! ❤️❤️

  13. Well they opened the border and that’s it. They are passing a new legislation that will give Ukrainians legal stay for 180 days instead of 90. Temporary stays in the cities are organized mainly by local authorities. But as for today most of the people are being helped, including location, by Polish people who act of their own good will. I’d say that it can’t last forever sadly. For now almost every people I know who have some space are taking in refugees and that’s great.

  14. We are very bad at choosing our representatives because we never had practice. Oh and last time we did we lost our independence for 200 years with a 20 years break between world wars.

  15. I love it when regular folks just send anti tank and anti aircraft weapons from their private stockpiles out of the goodness of their hearts

  16. I cannot believe how well Polish civil society has pulled this off. How did they organize so well and so fast? I would have thought there would be chaos but it’s been like clockwork.

  17. This is a stupid post. Typical of something who doesn’t know what’s happening and only listens to left-wing media.

  18. I damn wish such posts would stop.

This is some Russian thugs’ propaganda and the last thing we in Poland need right now. Let me explain.

It’s false that the government hasn’t been preparing at all. A few weeks before the war, Eastern districts (i. e. local governments) had been securing resources and preparing places for the refugees to stay. This included school gyms to set up temporary shelters, reception points and health care resources.

Polish railway companies, which are state-owned organizations, have been sending trains to Ukraine to bring people here. They still transport them within the country with extra trains.

Local governments have employed and are supervising multiple organizations to take care of the refugees.

A lot of that wouldn’t be happening if the state government was idle and not helping with resources, including financing.

Of course, it’s easy to see just those individuals who have come of their own volition to help out at the border. But the whole picture is much broader than this.

One more thing. I’m the last person to root for the ruling party, but we have been at an exceptional point in the history of Europe, if not the world. We are facing the aggressor nearby, who’d be more than happy to see us quarrel. We all in Poland should stay united, and not try to undermine our own authorities.

  19. Whoever organized it, Poland has been the best Ukrainian neighbor that we see on the news everyday here in California.

  20. Polish government didn’t f**k this up, and for our government (not just PIS, any Polish government) it is something!

  21. I thank the people of Poland for helping my people. This war will have consequences for the whole of Europe. But you, as our neighbors, have borne the brunt. I understand that these events will not have a positive impact on your economy. I ask you to remember that we did not start this war. But we will do our utmost to return home as soon as possible and restore peace and economic stability throughout Europe. Thanks 🙏

  22. It’s the same for Ukraine and our govt with Zelensky. Westerners praising him while he did exactly opposite of he should do to defend the country for the last 3 years, while common Ukrainians volunteered for our army (and still does), organized themselves, etc

  23. It didn’t do much but I wouldnt call it nothing. For example they quickly opened additional border checkpoints and simplified the required procedure as much as possible.

Besides most effort went to support Ukraine on the international arena and here they did a colossal work. I know that we should hate PiS by the rule of thumb, but you gotta give credit where credit is due.

  24. Just outright untrue, the goverment did a huge lot. Did us just some typical “pis=bad” post. Why post stuff like that in times that we should stay united?

  25. I have a question: I have an acquaintance, Ukrainian refugee, who is in Ustka. We have a place for her to stay in Denmark, but she needs some help getting to the ferry in Swinoujscie. How would I best go about helping her? Any local groups that can offer her a ride?

  26. I mean yes but are we really going to forget about all the military equipment government gave to Ukraine? And they were the ones to open the borders. But I do think this is pretty funny nontheless lel. I just think that saying that the government didnt do anything at all is a bit of a streach.

  27. We’ll go to great lengths to fuck over the Russians for the 50 years of screwing us over. Helping others is a nice bonus.
