Basically they laid blame at the feet of the Fire service, the only people with any power who were they trying the help…obviously no one who made the decisions.
I don’t know what’s happening with it now, but I do remember the night it happened, having friends in the area seeing it happen and the company immediately stopping work on the facade on the outside of my building at the time as it was apparently the same facade. The scaffolding and temporary facade they had already done both stayed there for the next 3+ years until I left. Reflects heavily on their attitudes towards safety this whole time considering my temporary construction and scaffolding stayed up for over 3 years, and that the carcass of Grenfell Tower is still here almost 8 and a half years later, and instead of dismantling it already, keeping their failure there with a light shining in the sky is a better idea.
The fact it happened to save just 5 grand by using cheaper cladding is what gets me. Was it worth the risk considering they knew how much of a risk it was.
Heartbreaking. Those poor people. Wonder where the survivors are now?
Is there anyone near that can actually use a camera. I have no idea what that’s meant to be. Other than a star wars related object which I expect it isn’t…
It is high time – enquiry notwithstanding- that individuals are held criminally accountable for the avoidable tragedy that was Grenfell.
If the government can expedite relaxed planning regulations, can they not also expedite accountability for disasters such as this?

Have any of the people responsible for the. Terrible Grenfell Fire Disaster and the horrific significant loss of people’s lives and serious injuries been successfully prosecuted and sent to prison yet??

Did anyone ever get in trouble over that?
This is gonna sound stupid so please forgive but it’s kinda nice to have a giggle seeing the TIE fighter. When we normally look at that building we think how terrible that night was.
The amount of life lost was mad and seeing those videos of the women in that flat panicking on how to get out before they were lost stuck with me.
I was living in London when it happened and travelled to and from Hammersmith of a shift. I used to stare at the empty hulk of a morning on the tube before it was wrapped with this feeling of doom with it sitting there blackened and empty, knowing what had happened to the people inside.
It’s scary how nobody is in prison over that or at least struggling to find a job after what happened.
Kinda feels like the country moved on from the madness of that night with nothing coming from it.
I’ll say this though. I don’t think I’ve seen a better advert for how community can pull together as we did after it happened. The clothes collection, food etc. Those people were the best of us.
Anyway sorry just had to say it.
What is this faux 9/11 crap? Make some arrests and make some real changes in law to make sure it doesn’t happen again. Not whatever this is
The whole event still makes me utterly furious. I remember waking up one morning and watching the videos of children crying and screaming out of their windows, people running terrified, emergency services tackling the blaze and seeing links to the Grenfell website where there were multiple blogs and posts about fire danger in the building that was being repeatedly ignored by the council. It actually makes me sick how the residents were failed so egregiously, so thoroughly and it finally happened in such a terrible, awful, sad event.

Are they never going to repair the tower? Is it like until the cladding issue gets fixed in then whole county?
They will do literally anything but fix the root cause. 🙄
